Science is a gradual approach to validate an observation that is important to life. If this is how science is defined, then science is truthful and sincere. Truth is the revelation of what is real and obtainable in normal existence. The only reason why humans may doubt the validity of science is because of the human error that accompanies scientific research. How scientific facts are known verifies this notion.
It is like a journey that passes through observation, Hypotheses, experiment or research, theories, and laws. For instance, when a man sees that if he has sex with a woman at a particular time in her life, there will be a pregnancy. Another person can tell him that he is not sure for only gods can give offsprings. Now to validate this observation, they have to go as far as separating the lady from the community for a time being while checking to see any sign of pregnancy. With the expiration of the time given for the separation and no sight of pregnancy, it will be said that pregnancy cannot occur without the conscious action of a man.
True science is not proven yet as there will be an organized event for the man to meet the lady. It could be at random times to know whether timing is important in being pregnant. Once the results show that mating is needed and timing is required, it can be taken as theory. The good thing about science is that it could be replicated by anyone who wishes to do that. But because science is a journey of seeking truth, what was perceived as it can be modified.
For instance, it is not an absolute fact that a man is needed before a pregnancy takes. Though sperm which can only be used is found in a man, it can be extracted from him and stored for whoever woman may want to be pregnant through artificial insemination. The new discovery does not in any way diminishes the old, but it modifies it to suit the times of humans.
The main reason why it seems that science is not truthful is the attitude of people to it. A researcher might have proposed something to be true but has not verified it. His discipline or a fan may push for research has happened to reveal only half of the truth. Due to affiliation, he might decide to prove infallibility resulting in the twist of veracity. This conception is called pseudoscience in science that cannot be accepted. Another case could be that a result which a scientist claimed to have observed is not replicable. Science is meant to be replicated for such veracity of its sort and not just spoken about.
The problem could also arise when the tools or machinery for such research are either manipulated or not even accurate for use. Openness to sincerity is the mark of science because that is the main reason for reason. It becomes biased and illogical to fight science due to the reasons that it does not support your earlier propositions. A typical example is the story of Galileo and the Catholic Church. The church’s sacred scriptures noted that the world is flat, but this father of modern science, also a Christian experimented and saw the astronomical entities as spherical.
Immediately, he announced that the church had been wrong on that notion, he was sentenced to death. Serendipitously, other scientists did tons of researches and found out that he was correct. After many years of fighting the truth, the church later came down to confess that Galileo was right.
The immediate proof that shows the truthfulness of science is the demarcation of ages. From the industrial ages, the value of science is what helped us to build modern houses, have cars, build roads, and eventually found better ways of cultivating food produces. If science is not a sincere adventure, a man would have been somewhere in the bush eating raw animals and being eaten by other animals. Life would have been terrible for humans.
Pure science is so systematic that it is divided into natural, formal sciences in addition to social sciences. Each of them follows sequential guidelines in obtaining answers to questions that arise from the hearts of human beings. To buttress the openness to truth, it is mandated that every revelation of fact should publish its procedures to establish its validity.
